VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open: A première under special conditions

Reading time: 6 Min
The return of the Ladies European Tour to Switzerland, co-initiated by VP Bank, is definitely taking place. The VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open from 10-12 September 2020 in Holzhäusern will therefore be a première. The Swiss television channel SRF will be broadcasting the competition live.

In mid-September, the players of the Ladies European Tour (LET) will be making their first stop in Switzerland since 2012. In a season in which simply staging a golf tournament has not been a matter of course and in which most women professionals had to cope with an enforced break for many months. Thanks to the commitment and dedication of the organisers and partners, and thanks to a comprehensive safety concept, the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open will be offering golf of the highest standard from 10-12 September 2020. VP Bank is therefore successfully continuing its commitment to women’s golf. In recent years, the private and intermediary bank laid the foundation for this with its commitment to the VP Bank Ladies Open in Gams, thereby offering an attractive competition, especially for young female athletes on the Access Tour.

VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open

With the return of the LET to Switzerland, VP Bank has the opportunity to take the support and promotion of women’s golf and its sponsorship commitment to a new level, while offering the very best players from Europe something special at the heart of Europe. Tobias Wehrli, Head of Intermediaries & Private Banking, will be involved in the competition for the first time: “With the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open we are achieving a women’s golf revival. We are enabling the Ladies European Tour to return to Switzerland, and are offering an attractive competition at Golfpark Holzhäusern.” The official Pro Am will be held on Wednesday, 9 September 2020. VP Bank clients, both men and women, will be playing together with women professionals of the Ladies European Tour (LET).

On location or live on TV

A special aspect of the competition is the cooperation with the Swiss TV channel SRF. SRF will be on location throughout the three days of the competition, and will be broadcasting the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open live. Golf fans will therefore be able to follow the competition either from their living rooms or live on location in Holzhäusern. Due to COVID-19, special safety rules are applicable to the spectators in Holzhäusern, and advance online registration is required. For organisers and players, the conditions imposed by the Swiss Confederation, the Canton of Zug and the Ladies European Tour represent a major challenge. The aim, however, is to protect the health of all those involved, while at the same time ensuring that the enjoyment of the sport of golf remains paramount.
