May the elections begin: SNB under pressure to act

The politically explosive 2017 election year is getting under way – but the political storm held off so far.

In the Netherlands, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and his VVD party appear to be in the lead, with the right-wing populist PVV party in second place. The national-conservative Front National party under Marine Le Pen is also putting on a strong showing in France. So these political uncertainties have added to the upside pressure on CHF and are forcing the SNB to stem more aggressively against the tide.
